Our Journey

Meet Shashank and Rohit—the two threads that would later become Joistic. Both were obsessed with building products; their paths kept crossing at tech events and meetups while they worked independently with founders across different domains.

In 2016, a shared client introduced them professionally. What started as collaboration on delivery quickly became something bigger: complementary strengths that translated into faster MVPs and stronger outcomes for the people they served.

In 2018, Shashank and Rohit joined a project with Abhinay Jain, a non-technical founder with a clear vision: a social gaming network built for Indian audiences. Abhinay saw how their craft accelerated the build—and asked them to step in as co-founders.

Together, Abhinay, Shashank, and Rohit built Bakbuck, a social contesting app designed for real Indian users. They wore every hat that stage demands—from product and design to algorithms, infrastructure, and talking to users until the experience clicked. As traction grew, they also built the core team from scratch, learning firsthand how to hire, mentor, and scale an early startup team.

Bakbuck grew fast. At its peak, the product reached about 7.5 lakh registered users and 1.5 lakh monthly actives—a sign of traction and a team obsessed with the experience, not just the feature list.

In March 2019, Nazara Games invested in Bakbuck’s seed round. The partnership brought capital and a sharper lens on how startups scale. Shashank and Rohit lived the full cycle: fundraising conversations, relentless iteration, and growing a tech team that could carry the product forward. They built that team from scratch, hiring and mentoring early members while shaping the engineering culture as the company scaled.

Ankit Mehta was instrumental long before Joistic had a name—the first hire on Bakbuck, helping set the tone for how the product was built and operated. His rigor and ownership helped create the foundation everything else stood on.

After Bakbuck, Shashank, Rohit, and Ankit channeled that same energy into a new chapter: a partner for founders who do not have a technical co-founder in the room. Joistic was born from that mission.

Since then, we have worked with more than 50 non-technical founders around the world—helping them navigate early-stage product development with clarity and speed. The work continues: turning visionary ideas into shipped software, one engagement at a time.
